A proper fit is what separates clothing you tolerate from clothing you reach for every week. At Nowells Clothiers, alterations and tailoring are done on site at our Raleigh showroom so you can try garments on, mark adjustments, and pick them up without mailing pieces out of state.

Common alterations we handle

1. Trouser hems and waist adjustments. Chinos, dress pants, and denim can be shortened to your preferred break. Tell us if you wear a specific dress shoe heel height so the hem sits correctly.

2. Jacket sleeve and body tweaks. Sport coats and suit jackets often need sleeve length changes, slight shoulder alignment, or waist suppression so the silhouette looks clean when you move.

3. Shirt and outerwear refinements. Dress shirts may need sleeve or collar adjustments. Lightweight layers and rainwear can be fitted so they layer over knits without pulling at the buttons.

How to schedule tailoring

Visit during store hours, Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at 1632 North Market Drive in Raleigh. Bring the shoes and belt you plan to wear with the garment. If you purchased online, bring your packing slip or order confirmation so we can note the original purchase.

Most routine hems are ready within a few business days. Complex suit work may take longer. Call 919-832-5809 for after-hours appointments when you cannot visit during the day.
